This is so gross. So after my 12k bink and other few decent scores, my fulltilt bankroll went from about 1.5k to 14.5k in one day. How fucking bad can I run with timing?? Well, there may be hope.
About 2 hours after that score, I withdrew 10k which is my maximum, it was in the form of a bankwire which has usually takes about 3-5 days to hit my bank account here in Australia. So I got the typical processing email, then minutes later I got the approved email!! Im still unsure if I will get this money? It still hasnt hit my account, but typically it would arrive today or Monday. Its such a disgusting sweat.
On the 28th, I did a withdrawal for 3k, I got the processing email, but not the approved email. So that 4.5k left in the account aint even good for wiping my arse.
I will be happy to get that 10k back, but for some reason, I feel like fulltilt havent processed it, even though it should have done immediately. If I was withdrawing to an ewallet, the funds should be available immediately, so does this mean the money was sent? So gross, I have no idea.
My head is spinning with all the threads and talk going on about Jack Binion, KGC, etc etc. The timing is so gross, biggest score of my life, well done son - heres 12k in monolopy money.
Ah well, cant do much about it now, other people have lost more than me. Theres always other people worse off, whether it be in this collapse or in life, no point dwelling on, feeling sorry for myself wont do anything, however right now I have got my pokerface on.
BTW - wtf is up with Tom Dwans tweets? First he says he may have some promising news and he will update in the morning. Ever since, he has been giving these bullshit little stacksize updates. This worries me.

Finally an MTT score
So Ive been donking around in MTTs for a few months now. Finally some success!! I got 2nd in the Sunday Mulligan on Full Tilt for 12k. Its my biggest score online! Ive been waking up at 615am most weekdays to play around 25mtts, those early mornings feel justified now.
Definitely worthy of a screenshot. FYI - I am GaryAblettJnr on FTP.

Also worthy of a mention is the sick payjump to 1st - $6750!!! fuck.
I reached the final table in 6/9 I think, won a few nice pots and then coolered someone really nicely. I opened 78s from the CO, chip leader flats from the BB, flop comes 773, I bet, he calls. Turn 8, I bet, he c/r me, so I flat. He jams river, I snap, he flips over 33 lolol. So yeah, things could have been alot different. Its sick to think how much money that turn card made me!
I reached HU with about 200k, opponent had 800k. He was up like 60k lifetime on OPR, a pretty aggro player, certainly decent. We looked at the numbers for a chop, he said ICM wasnt enough because he "knew" he had an edge on me. I would have taken ICM chop which was like $13750 I think. So I told him to gtfo, I then played close to the best HU poker of my life. He was a tricky opponent, several times I tripled barrelled with nothing and got him to fold on the river. Eventually, I got to 800k to his 200k. I was like yeah bitch hows that edge looking now. I never said that but I was thinking it. I was in total control.
He was then on 15bbs, being very aggro, I just couldn't pick up better than queen high, then lost a flip for the win. He was 3betting preflop over 50%, so I 4bet shoved A3s and ran into AQ and lost. I think my play was ok here, but I still pondered that hand for quite a while since the payjump was so high. sigh.
However, the timing of the score is great as I am launching my online business. It also restored some confidence that I can hit some decent scores. I feel like I am handling the closing stages of MTTs much better now.
Back to the online business - I am starting a business where I import products from overseas(Asia), which have huge markups here. Our country is so bloody expensive, everything costs so much, so why not try and take advantage of this? I have a friend who is helping me out with this, he setup a similar business in a different niche and is crushing it. His first site will make him around 45k pure profit this year at least and he only started it in March. After alot of initial work, he now has a legitimate longterm business and a system that he can replicate in other niches. He will eventually have 10 sites all fully optimised and outsourced. Hes been kind enough to give me as much help as I need. What a legend! His phone beeps whenever he gets a sale, it beeps all day long and hes like - "another sale"!!
I cant divulge much more at this stage, but this MTT score has given me more money to import goods and to spent on website development. Its going to be hard work and nerve racking/frustrating at times, but I am very excited about the upside. I would rather be sitting on a thailand beach listening to my phone beep, whilst getting a foot massage, beer in one hand. I can picture it already!!!

Rumour that Pokerstars is Pulling out of Australia
So I get a facebook message from my friend Amatay:
"pretty sick news if u havent heard already mate?
In a stunning announcement Poker Stars has withdrawn from the Australian market from August 1st. Devestating news. "
The source is a guy called Chris Levick(never fuckin heard of him obv), he claims to have inside info from someone close to pokerstars. This guy comes across as a total wanker, so Im hoping that its total bullshit. A much respected Aussie poker player called "SeaBeast" came out on 2p2 and said this guy is a total attention whore, has had a bunch of failed poker businesses and is generally a piece of scum. He may be doing this to grab attention for himself.
Recently in Australia, gambling has been in the news alot. There has been alot of issues with spotsbetting/match fixing and exotic sportsbets. Unfortunately poker isnt flying under the radar and could cop some unwanted attention in the coming future.
This guy claims its 100% true and will bet anyone 100k on it. Rumour has it, he may not have 2cents to rub together. Nevertheless, its fairly worrying. I kinda feel ok about it though, since I am moving away from poker as a longterm career and working more on internet marketing. I would however like to continue playing fulltime until I have a full income from IM. I guess whatever happens, I just gotta adjust.....at least poker has taught me that.
Its really confusing whether poker is illegal/taxable here in Oz. I believed that it was illegal for Australian based poker sites to accept Australian players. However we are free to play at sites based overseas.
As far as taxes go - we are all obv recreational players so we dont pay tax. As far as the morality of that - we contribute to society by stimulating the economy with our spending. We dont leech off the government like so many lazy fuckin aussies do. Our country is a fuckin joke for welfare. If you're a lazy fucking loser you get everything for free and I mean everything. The difference between unskilled workers getting a job or claiming welfare is marginal at best. No wonder all these boat people risk their lives to make it here, its valuetown once you make it. They must be back in their countries talking about how they give out free money in Australia. It is beyond a fucking joke. /End Political rant
Even if we were "professionals", the tax office has their arms pinned, because taxing poker players would mean they need to tax every mug who puts a bet on at the local tote. And Aussies are massive degen gamblers who generate billions of dollars each year from the sportsbet agencies being taxed.
In the end, its all about money, just like it was in the US. No organisation in Australia is profiting from poker, so there wont be much resistance to a ban. As far as putting legisaltion through, I simply dont know enough about that, but I have read something about 2013 being proposed for anti-gambling.
So who knows what will happen. Its just one idiot, possibly an idiot telling the truth. It worries me that no pokerstars rep has hosed down the rumours on 2p2. Usually they are all over that shit.
I apologise for the language. Thanks for reading

Long Overdue Update
The last 7 weeks since I updated has been insane. We all know about the events of Black Friday, whilst this did effect me a little, I was still able to play poker unimpeded as usual.
POCARR
Pocarr took a huge hit with Black Friday. We have temporarily shutdown our staking services. We never fully recovered after the events in April, we lost over half our students, some of which havent returned the funds. We also had money stuck in limbo on fulltilt in US accounts and still do. We got money stuck on UB also, which is as good as gone imo.
Our MTT coaches understandably had their lives thrown upside down. These poor fellas basically go from making 6 figures a year to unemployed. It was tough for them to continue with Pocarr and I can see why. So basically we couldnt continue providing the level of service which we expect of ourselves.
Alex Carr, founder of Pocarr, has been unbelievable with this business. He truly is a great person, he works hard, makes tough decisions and is someone I can genuinely call a friend. He has been doing a mountain of work on Pocarr to have it running the way it was, unfortunately now, his life has also been thrown upside down. He has moved to Canada, away from his family, which is really hurting him emotionally. I can't imagine how tough it is for him. He is basically grinding 12 hours+ each day, so he can save up a bunch of money and go back to school. Alex is made of the right stuff, so he will come through this and be successful at whatever he does.
BURN OUT
Personally, I got soooo burnt out from 18man sngs, I actually began to hate them. After playing about 60,000 of them, I got plain sick of them. I havent had good results this year either which is really frustrating because I have worked much harder on my game than ever before. I felt like I was playing way better than ever before, but my results sucked. I had no trouble grinding 18mans last year, motivation was high because I was travelling across America or Europe or in Thailand. It was fun, I always had something to look forward to, motivation or burnt out was never an issue. Now that I am home in Sydney, grinding sngs is just sick. It feels like such a grind, like never before.
MTTS
So I decided to start playing mtts for something new. I have quite enjoyed it. I wake up around 6.30am my time and play maybe 25-30 mtts. I did ok last month overall, think I was up maybe 4k with an interrupted month. The players in mtts are pretty bad, so many more fish. Its really just a battle with yourself to stay patient and focused. If I can do that, I will hit decent scores and make a good hourly. Its also alot of fun when you get deep, although I start looking at the prizemoney a bit early! I did win a couple of mtts in May, annoyingly they were these poxy little tournaments such as the 11 10k on stars and some $26 mtt on FT. Both payed around 3k ftw. Whatever. Would be nice to run better in a 109 or on a Sunday ffs.
OTHER BUSINESS
So Black Friday put things in perspective for me, I def have all my eggs in on basket(poker obv). Before I played poker, I dabbled in Internet Marketing, had a little success, but didnt continue because I was enjoying poker. To me, this is a more sustainable future. I am currently designing some websites and products which I hope will make me money for years to come. I couldnt play poker fulltime my whole life and I certainly will not work for someone else, make them rich, do what they say. fuck that. So IM has the entrepreneur stuff which I like, you work for yourself which I am used to and the potential is enormous. I am hoping to be making 3k a month passive income by the end of the year from IM. Its a modest total, but something thats achievable. By next year hopefully thats closer to 20k. I will continue to play poker for cashflow, but long term, I want to have a successful IM business which pays the bills and I can then play poker for fun on the side.
Ill post my first IM website when its fully functional, its getting close now.

A Date With Xanax
I made an unwanted friend during my 6 month stay in Thailand, he was about 1/4 inch long, weighed 2mgs and told me his real name was alprazolam. Fortunately, we both went our separate ways, but it was an interesting time we spent together, but he wasnt someone I really wanted to get to know.

In about mid January, I was having trouble sleeping for some reason. I was doing all the right things such as exercise, healthy eating, no caffeine. I just seemed to hit the sack with a million things on my mind. I think most poker players would know the feeling, sometimes its hard to leave the game behind and get a good nights sleep. How many times have you had those poker dreams/nightmares where you bubble the FTOPS main event with AA V 72o?
Anyway, so I headed down to the local friendly pharmacy and asked for some "sleep aid". I didnt want a sleeping tablet, I just needed something to make me a little drowsy. So the little Thai lady opens up a draw and pulls out these little blue tablets. My wife and I look at them, cool whatever, hope they work etc, we then pay the $8 for 10 tablets and head home. I later google the name "alprazolam" and it says its another name for xanax. Admittedly, I had heard of xanax but really didnt know much about it. Im such a noob. I google a few pages and amazingly couldnt find much bad stuff on it. The famous google algorithm failed me as I later found out this stuff is unbelievably bad for you.
So I take half a tablet the 1st night and zomg I had the best sleep of my life. I woke up feeling fresh as a daisy. I usually wake up and take a piss about 3 times during the night, but hadnt, so had a bladder about to burst. Pissed for about 2 mins, no joke. Amazing sleep and I was so refreshed for poker and relaxed lolol.
I took them the next few nights, then I started actually getting excited about sleeping. wtf. I would pop one, sit and watch TV for 15 mins and be ready to sleep the house down! I sound like a junky obv. After about 2 weeks this started to worry me. I was getting really irritable at about 4pm in the afternoon, clearly around the time when this shit would wear off. So I threw the shit out and vowed never to touch it again.
I have since read a bunch of stuff about it and I cant believe I was so naive. Im glad I had the strength to throw it out and forget about it. I can see how this shit gets outta control. They actual call it a tranquiliser, wow, so I was hitting myself with a tranq before bed. Thats fucked up.
I know poker players have a crack at the ADD drugs and Ive heard some crazy stories about the comedown. I would never risk it to be honest, especially after reading Ben Reasons blog post about his date with Adderall. I respected that post very much, it was very insightful, especially coming from a guy who's had much success and lives a great life from what I know.
So luckily now I am back in a country where Pharmaceuticals are regulated! and all is good.

What Happens Next?
I arrived home drunk last night, turned on the PC and was bombarded with the bad news about online poker in the US.
Its a real eye-opener for me, because even though I'm not hugely affected as a player, I have many friends who are American and play poker for their sole source of income. My heart really goes out to these guys. I wish there was more I could do, but for now, its best not to panic. Lets see how this unfolds.
Unfortunately Pocarr has been greatly affected. This is my main concern. I have so much passion for what we are doing at Pocarr, I have made many friends through Pocarr and we were building momentum like a freight train. Right now, all our funds are frozen and we have many young up and coming players who are unable to continue with poker because they are American. Many of our students simply cant afford to move country to play as they are new to the game and dont have the funds for such a big change. I really feel for these guys, but all we can do is support them and try and find an alternative together.
I feel very unprepared for something like this to happen to me. I have a half finished Uni degree, haven't had a proper job my entire life and now have a taste for being my own boss. I also have all my money invested in Poker, I need to diversify and this is a big warning to me which I am going to take on board.
Several years ago, I ventured into the online marketing world. I spent maybe a year doing it, but just couldnt quite crack the nut. I had little funds to invest, so had to do all the annoying labor myself which just took so much time. I did enjoy it, but living in Sydney was so expensive and I just didnt have the liferoll to be able to relax and actually learn and build a company. I had too much pressure to make money and it got the better of me. So I lost that battle imo, but I havent lost the war yet! It was very stressful, but I really did enjoy the marketing and have always kept it in the back of my mind. The upside to marketing is huge, especially if you work hard and just stick at it.
Ideally, I would like to have a marketing business bringing in 5kUSD a month and basically I would look to outsource the entire thing. This should take the pressure off poker and allow me to play without any financial pressure whatsoever. I think this is achievable and I will be getting the wheels in motion very soon.
For now, the volume at Pokerstars is lower, but the games look softer. After speaking to a few people, the 45s and 180s are apparently way less reg-filled. I will try take advantage of the softer games, if this is the case, and grind hard until I go to Vegas.

For now, the volume at Pokerstars is lower, but the games look softer. After speaking to a few people, the 45s and 180s are apparently way less reg-filled. I will try take advantage of the softer games, if this is the case, and grind hard until I go to Vegas.

Gunnar Glasses - Douchebag Alert
All this hype about gunnar glasses coupled with some run bad forced me to exercise some "retail therapy" and buy myself a pair of these things. They arrived today and zomg, they are awesome. So yeah, I look like a dildo wearing these things, but my wife says I look sexy, so thats all that matters. Maybe Ill just wear the gunnars to bed tonight and nothing else. oh dear.
I heard about them from my friend Bhup, also known as simpledude16, he reckons he's responsible for about 50 sales and should be getting kickbacks from the company. PushOrdie was also talking about them on his blog aswell as epitomised I think. Of course I couldnt resist.
Im pretty sure I got 20/20 vision so dont really need these glasses, but they certainly help my eyes alot. I cant look at the screen now without them, it hurts my eyes. Maybe Im building up a dependency already and I will be like a bat in the light of day.
Update on Poker
I didn't play for a few weeks whilst we moved back to Sydney, but just started grinding again on Tuesday. 4 days of play and I got in about 940 games and also hit the gym everyday. Pretty happy with my efforts all round, no point posting results for that sample. I feel like I'm playing really good poker and thinking much deeper than I used to, but recent results have me questioning my game alot.
I really dont see many people crushing the 18s this year. I think theres been an influx of breakeven/slight winning players and its killing the games tbh. I would say the games are way tougher than last year. Rather than having 4-5 regs in a game and the rest being fish, in 2011 have like 2-3 good regs and about 6-8 breakevens in there. I dont feel like I get outplayed very often, but not players stack off badly. It may be time to start mixing in a new game? For now Ill just work hard on my game and give it some more time.
Of course there is a few guys who are crushing 18s which gives me confidence that the games are still soft. Bigbluffzinc kills it, push0rdie also. Others with really good results this year are epitomised, entim and joszunabot. All are solid players, one in particular is in Godmode, thankfully hes playing higher than me so I dont have to face him. I wont say which one :)
I'm currently staying in a country town called Dubbo, its about 400km inland from Sydney. We dont have a place to stay until after wsop, so we are crashing at my inlaws house. Awkward. Actually no, its really good. Ems mum cooks nice food every night, its really quiet also. Perfect conditions to grind. So we will be here during the week and then go visit Sydney each weekend. So no poker on the weekends which is kinda nice. Only thing that sucks is the shitty fuckin internet. I gotta use this mobile broadband crap and its like dialup. I haven't had good internet for the last 15 months and I'm about sick of it.
Also picking up our new car tomorrow, will post some pics soon.
